    William Eggleston: Portraits.

    The poetic photography of the 60s.

    The National Portrait Gallery, London presents an exhibition of 100 works of celebrated American photographer William Eggleston. Renowned for his vibrant and mysterious images the exhibition showcases Eggleston’s entire career from the 1960s to the present day. As well as a comprehensive display of his poetic portrait photography, there is a selection of never-before seen black and white prints featuring people in diners, petrol stations and markets in and around Eggleston’s native Memphis, Tennessee.

    William Eggleston’s work has found lasting fame after his debut exhibition back in 1976 at the Museum of Modern art in New York that stunned the American photography world. Eggleston is undoubtedly hugely influential with a unique ability to transform the mundane and ordinary into something extraordinary.

    ‘William Eggleston: Portraits’ opened on 21 July and runs until 23 October 2016.
