Vitno Schnabel Projects in New York exhibit Picture From Another Time: Photographs by Bob Colacello, 1976-82 until June 21. Bob Colacello was one of Andy Warhol’s closest companions. He began taking photos after purchasing a cold-war era spy camera in Berlin with Warhol, it began a career of interesting encounters. In an interview Colacello said that he was Andy’s “English to English” translator, he would accompany him to all the events Warhol attended, all the while naturally becoming closer to the insider VIP circle surrounding Warhol. This exhibition takes a look at the photos taken by young Colacello as he navigated this strange world, stranger still that he could do so seamlessly. It includes pictures of the likes of Kissinger, Mick Jagger, Liza Minelli and Ronald Reagan – all in settings that evoke a behind the scenes look into this time – “before AIDS, but after Watergate and Vietnam”.
