Peter Lindbergh is one of the most well-known names in the fashion world today, his timeless images paved the way for a new kind of realism and redefined the norms of beauty. Lindbergh’s work forms a bigger picture on the perception of beauty in today’s society, he recently stated “This should be the responsibility of photographers today: to free women, and finally everyone, from the terror of youth and perfection”.

The spectacular exhibition ‘A different vision on fashion photography’ opened at the Kunsthal Rotterdam in September 2016. It is an ode to the influential photographer and features more than 220 of his photographs.

Guest curator, Thierry-Maxime Loriot explains, “This exhibition is not a chronological survey, but a narrative in which you discover the universe of Peter Lindbergh through his unique eye”. The dynamic layout of his images is focused on Lindbergh’s themes, imaginary world and passions through the years, into nine different sections: Supermodels, Couturiers, Zeitgeist, Dance, The Darkroom, The Unknown, Silver Screen, Icons and an exclusive Rotterdam gallery.

‘A different vision on fashion photography’ is on at the Kunsthal Rotterdam until 12 February 2017.
