Then and Now is a month-long exhibition featuring an impressive selection of photographs taken from the Lovers Rock series by John Goto. Lovers Rock portrays young people of Lewisham in 1997 in a comfortable studio setting. In addition to these photographs, ‘Then and Now’ will show a more recent series of his, which revolves around young people in the borough today. These two series are purposefully shown together in order to generate reflections on past and present experiences of young Britons and the Caribbean diaspora. Lovers Rock is photographic series with critical acclaim , described as a ‘refreshing and powerful look at young black Britain’.
Then and Now takes place at 2-3 Winslade Way, Catford Shopping Centre, London, until Oct 28.
