Culture Chanel, La donna che legge.
First launched in 2007, the ‘Culture Chanel’ collection of exhibitions, curated by Jean-Louis Froment, brings its seventh chapter to Ca’ Pesaro, Galleria Internazionale d’Arte Moderna di Venezia in Venice. Each exhibition looks at the life of Gabrielle Chanel through an original theme, shedding new light on the influences that forged the unmistakable style of Chanel.
The new exhibition, entitled ‘The Woman who Reads’, looks at the dynamic relationship Gabrielle Chanel had with literature, particularly poetry, and how it affected her life and ultimately influenced her personality and creativity. Around 350 pieces are displayed, never before seen art objects from her Paris apartment, photographs, paintings, drawings, personal jewellery and perfumes all show the fashion legend’s taste for classicism, baroque and her love for Russia and the golds of Venice.
‘The Woman who Reads’ is on until January 8, 2017, at Ca’ Pesaro, Galleria Internazionale d’Arte Moderna di Venezia in Venice.
