Culture and Creativity.
A new exhibition opening at Humber Street Gallery will commission Magnum photographers Olivia Arthur and Martin Parr and their exhibition featuring the city of Hull and it's people, culture and creative outlets. Each artists offers a very different interpretation of the city. Martin Parr’s view of Hull is based solely around the city’s rich culinary scene. Parr used colorful photography to showcase what the city has to offer in terms of food and the culture that surrounds food. Whereas Olivia Arthur focuses on the creativity of Hulls youth and used black and white formal portraits of the unique Hull Population. Arthur captures the unique personalities of the city from Elvis impersonators to pet snakes, footballers to teenage relationships and young families.
The contrast in photographic style, and concept angle gives the exhibition depth in terms of what to expect from Hull’s culture and lifestyle. The exhibition will be on view on13 October and will run until 31 December 2017.
