America’s Cool Modernism.
The Ashmolean gallery in Oxford will be hosting American Cool Modernism and works alike from the 1920’s-1930’s.
The Ashmolean Gallery will be holding the first exhibition to explore the ‘cool’ in American art that came from the early 1920’s through to the 1930’s depression era. Some of the works included Georgia O’Keeffe, Arthur Dove, Paul Strand, Charles Steeler and Charles Demuth. The concept behind “America’s Cool Modernism” is to showcase the smooth, crisp, clean appearance of the world in which human beings have been removed or substituted.
The Metropolitan Museum Of Art has supported this exhibition with major loans, in addition to pieces from the Terra Collection and other international collections.
Find America’s Cool Modernism from March 23rd through to July 22nd 2018 at the Ashmolean Gallery in Oxford.
