    Abandoned Architecture.

Photographer Matt Lambros captures deserted movie theatres in his new book.

New York based architectural photographer, Matt Lambros has been fascinated by abandoned architecture from a young age. Filled with curiosity about what a building used to be, why was it left behind and what remains inside, he began photographing decaying structures in the early 2000s.

Lambros’ new book ‘After the Final Curtain: The Fall of the American Movie Theater’, features photographs of 24 movie theaters that were once lavish and full of life, now neglected and crumbling. His compelling photographs portray the history and loneliness of the forgotten buildings. His work has a deeper sense of purpose, often collaborating with organisations that work to restore and reopen theatres in the US. Lambros said, “My hope for my work is that it will shine light on beautiful, dated architecture and on the equal yet sinister beauty in decay.”
