Gabriel & Helmut Nothhelfer are a German couple who bonded through their love for photography. Born at the end of World War II in Berlin, they later met while studying at the Berlin Lette School's Department of Photography, from 1967 to 1969. Their work focus predominantly on people in public spaces and carries a certain sociological depth coupled with an empathic feel. A great historical value for cultural remembrances of post-war Germany. Due to their comprehensive photographic practice, they have become major documentarists of Germany everyday's life of that period.
