The all American road-trip.
French photographer, Larry Niehues has had a deep-rooted passion for America since early childhood. Drawn to its culture, sprawling landscapes & highways, he headed out to Mcallen in south Texas to begin his photographic journey at the age of 22. Larry’s style leans towards raw and candid images, on the road, capturing the essence of classic America.
This editorial shoot for Mod’s Hair in Los Angeles, owned by fellow Frenchman David Pierre who is a fan of Larry’s photography, and wanted him to create images that reflected his personal style and love for all things American, was shot in Palmdale, California.
The model, Claire Oleson, has an incredible 70s vibe that inspired the photographer and ultimately set the tone for the shoot. Heading out into the desert to capture a typical Californian landscape and lifestyle, carefully selecting locations and details - iconic glass Coke bottles, suede jackets, denim hot pants and classic trucks - all transport you back to the 1970s.
Larry shared with Aserica a quote that inspires him from American novelist and poet, Jack Kerouac’s book ‘On the Road’ - “Nothing behind me, everything ahead of me, as is ever on on the road.”
