Chinese singer/actor/model Bahar Guli is a native of the far northeastern autonomous province of Xinjiang. This is a Muslim region whose people, the Uighurs, belong to one the biggest minorities in the country alongside the Tibetans. Bahar was discovered in a talent show in 2008 and has since become one the most prolific representatives of the Uighur community in the Chinese media. She sang the Shanghai World Expo theme song in 2010, has appeared in three films, and acted as the face of Shiseido makeup. She’s also cropped up in countless TV shows and fashion magazines. In 2014 she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a master degree in movie production.
