Valeriia Marchuk
Tell us a bit about yourself…
My name is Valeriia (exactly with double "i" because a lady from the passport office decided to write it so for some reason!). I grew up in a small town in Crimea, Ukraine, next to the sea-side, guess that's why I'm way too excited and happy every time I'm next to the sea.
Where do you call home?
I'm travelling quite a lot, but I don't have my own place where I feel settled yet, hopefully one day. I really can't complain about it though, I'm a happy person and I wouldn't change anything in my life, even if I could.
Have you kept in touch with your friends from home?
Growing up in a small town I was lucky enough to have a lot of friends, we'd spend the whole day playing together and making our parents nervous when we weren't home on time. I had a great childhood, with really fun friends, we don't keep in touch anymore, but I have good memories of all of them.
Where’s the most beautiful place you’ve ever visited?
There's something beautiful about all of the places I've been to. I've visited Tokyo, Shanghai, Istanbul, Paris, Milan, Rome and so many more amazing places, but I have to admit Paris is my favourite. It was always my biggest dream to visit it, ever since I was a kid. I made it only one and a half years ago, and instantly fell in love. The Parisian lifestyle, the elegance, the beautiful French women and sophisticated men. Paris just makes me happy whenever I'm there or even when I'm just thinking about it. And have you ever tried le pain aux raisins? If you have you totally understand what I mean!
How did you begin your career as a model?
I met this girl on the street when I was 16 years old and she told me I have to try modelling. I used to be shy so I didn't really pay any attention to her words, and yet somehow it just all happened. I don't know if I can say that I'm a model but others do so maybe they're right, I really don't know.
Who or what inspires you?
I don't think I can define it with one thing or only person as such, it's more about love, humanity and kindness for me. Those are the forces that keep you moving, make you better.
Where's the most beautiful place you've ever been to?
One of the most beautiful places I've ever been to is Trevi Fountain in Rome.
What's the most beautiful thing someone ever told you?
I love you.
Do you believe in beauty, and how important is it for you?
There's beauty everywhere and in everything. And it really depends on what you mean by the word "beauty". It's a different thing to different people, that’s what makes it so special. Personally for me, ”beauty" equals something pure, crystal clean. Something that makes you smile, makes you feel better and at ease.
What's the most beautiful thing you've ever done?
There’s still so much more to come :)
What's the most important thing for you now?
Just be happy, not only now, always.
How much of a good thing is a bad thing?
When you stop appreciating the good things and start take them for granted.
What would be a perfect day, from morning to night?
Waking in up in a favourite city with a favourite man, probably around noon, not too early, make fresh coffee, run to the bakery downstairs to get something nice for breakfast to eat leisurely with the muted sounds from the street. After that we’d get dressed up and spend the whole day wandering around the city. Buy some groceries in the evening before coming home to cook dinner together, nothing fancy just good simple food that we both enjoy. Then we’d watch a movie with few glasses of wine before going back to sleep to meet another beautiful day together. Just simple things, you know.
What could be the best thing happening to you right now?
Finding out that I don't have to have any visas to travel around the world.
What could be there worst?
Not being able to travel and see anymore beauty the world has to offer.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I see myself living in a city I love with a man who supports me no matter what, doing something I love, surrounded by great people who inspire me to become better everyday.
Is there a compliment that annoys you?
To be honest most of the compliments I get annoys me a bit because I don't really see myself the way some people do. I don't really know if it's good or bad, but it's just the way it is.
Is there a quality you wished you didn't have?
I wish I wasn't the best worst singer!
Is there a flaw you wished you had?
I think I already have my fair share of flaws, any more and it'll simply be a disaster :)
Is there a question you wished I’d asked you?
If I believe in magic - yes I do :)
